Summary

The Asia Cup 2025 event is scheduled to begin on September 09 to 28. The Continental Cup will be held in Dubai & Abu Dhabi

Asia Cup 2025 schedule

After a gap of one month, the Indian Cricket Team will be in action in the Asia Cup 2025 event, scheduled to begin on September 09 to 28. The Continental Cup will be held in Dubai & Abu Dhabi, with eight teams participating - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Oman, UAE, Hong Kong & Sri Lanka. India will kick off their Asia Cup campaign on September 10 against the UAE and then lock horns with Pakistan on September 14.

Notably, these two Asian teams only meet in ICC events and the Asia Cup due to political tension. India last played Pakistan on June 09 in the T20 World Cup 2024 in New York. However, a lot has gone through in the past year, with the equations being even more strained between the two Asian neighbors. The Pahalgam attack on April 22 and the Indian Army's response through Operation Sindoor made the relationship between the teams even worse.

However, the Asia Cricket Cup organizers are optimistic that India-Pakistan game in Dubai on September 14 will go as planned.

Subhan Ahmed, CEO of the Emirates Cricket Board, confident about the IND-PAK match taking place

Notably, many fans and experts are not happy with India taking on Pakistan in the Asia Cup due to the latest political angle. However, according to the CEO of Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Subhan Ahmed, the same situation won't arise in the Continental Cup.

“We can’t make any guarantees, but comparing the Asia Cup against a private event like the WCL is not a like-for-like comparison," Subhan was quoted as saying by The National.
“When decisions to play in the Asia Cup are taken, government permissions are taken in advance. That has definitely been done before arriving at the decision to announce the schedule for the countries. So hopefully we won’t be in a situation as there was at the WCL," he added.
