Indian T20 Team

India are almost certain to not have their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the Champions Trophy 2025. Despite NCA doctors and physios making best possible efforts to make the star player fit, it seems Bumrah wont be rushed to play the global event. With the 31-year-old pacer unavailable skipper Rohit Sharma has to weigh in the options and take a bold call on replacing Bumrah with the pacer or a spinner.

While India have tried Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy as options to replace Bumrah, none have looked convincing against England in the ongoing ODI series. However, the question remains whether India will replace Bumrah with either one of Chakravarthy or Rana or will they call the experience of Mohammed Siraj to replace Bumrah?

All the questions will be answered by February 12, but before that at Criczop we have made a possible playing XI in the likely absence of Bumrah.

Possible playing XI for India in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah

Openers- Rohit Sharma, Shubnam Gill

It a no-brainier that skipper Rohit Sharma will open the innings alongside Gill in the Champions Trophy. Both of them compliment each other well, and can take the game away from the opposition in the power play. Within a short period of time, Rohit and Gill combo have already amassed five-plus century stands.

Middle-order batters - Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul

The famed trio of Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul will walk in at number three, four, and five respectively. While Kohli and Rahul are both out of form, they have shown a billion times to never write off them. Shreyas Iyer is the aggressor among the trio, and he will look to keep his form going in the Champions Trophy as well. Recently, Iyer also amassed 1000 runs for India at number four with a strike rate of over 90.

All-rounders - Hardik Pandya Ravindra Jadeja Axar Patel

There were some question marks over Ravindra Jadeja's place in the ODI team after a lull spell in ODI cricket. However, Jadeja has quashed those rumors by putting on a terrific performance in the ongoing ODI series against England. Jadeja has been the most economical spinner and has also taken six wickets so far in two matches.

Meanwhile, Axar has been a revelation with bat in hand, he scored 52 and 41 in two ODIs, and has been used as a floater by Indian management. Hardik has looked a bit rusty, but expect him to roar back to form in CT.

Bowlers - Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh

In all probability, it seems Rana is the one replacing Bumrah in the CT squad. Also, it looks likely that Arshdeep Singh will take the death bowling responsibilities in the absence of Bumarh. While the left-arm pacer has not been used so far in the ODI series, Arshdeep's left-arm angle gives India an X-factor in the power play.
