The Ranasinghe Premadasa Cricket Stadium, also called Khettarama Stadium, is located in Maligawatta suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is the biggest cricket ground in Sri Lanka with a seating capacity of around 35,000.
The ground has hosted several famous matches such as the 2011 World Cup semi-final, the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy final and the 2012 T20 World Cup final. It is also remembered for one of the greatest records in cricket history. In 1997, Sri Lanka posted 952 runs against India, the highest Test score ever recorded.
The stadium layout includes Pavilions A and B, which are designed with two seating tiers, lower and top level, with several corporate boxes attached. Pavilions C and D stand alongside the scoreboard, also built with a two-tiered seating block. The lower floors use concrete paving for basic seating, while the upper blocks have standard chairs for spectators. The grand stand and the top-level structure above the dressing rooms are fitted with better-quality seating.

R. Premadasa Stadium Test Records and Stats
The R. Premadasa Stadium is remembered for witnessing the highest team total in Test history, Sri Lanka’s 952/6d against India in 1997. The lowest Test score at the venue is 86 all out by Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka in 2005.
Among batters, Sanath Jayasuriya is the leading run-getter here with more than 568 runs in six matches. Muttiah Muralitharan dominates the bowling charts with 36 Test wickets in six games at this venue.
Jayasuriya also struck the highest individual score, 340 runs, during the record-breaking Test against India in 1997. With the ball, Rangana Herath produced one of the finest spells here, returning 7/89 against Bangladesh in 2013, recording the best bowling figures at this stadium in a Test match.
R. Premadasa Stadium ODI Records and Stats
The highest innings total here in ODIs is 375/5 by India versus Sri Lanka in 2017. The lowest ODI score belongs to Sri Lanka as they got all out at 50 against India in the Asia Cup 2023 final.
When it comes to batting records, Jayasuriya stands out with 2,514 ODI runs in 71 games at this stadium, the most by any player. With the ball, Muralitharan once again tops the charts with 75 wickets in 57 ODIs he has played here.
The highest individual innings score came from Kumar Sangakkara, who smashed 169 runs in 137 deliveries against South Africa in 2013. For bowlers, Wanindu Hasaranga’s 7/19 versus Zimbabwe in 2024 remains the best ODI figures recorded at this venue.

In T20Is, the highest score at the R. Premadasa Stadium is 215/5 by Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in 2018. The lowest is 80 all out by Afghanistan versus England in 2012.
Kusal Perera has scored the most runs here in T20Is. He has accumulated 442 runs in 17 matches. The leading wicket-taker is Hasaranga with 21 wickets in 11 games at this venue.
The highest individual score belongs to Luke Wright, who hammered 99* runs off 55 balls for England against Afghanistan in 2012. With the ball, Hasaranga’s 4/9 versus India in 2021 remains the best figures recorded in T20Is at this ground.
